Mason Jar Wedding Ideas

Mason Jars aren’t just for canning food anymore. They are all the current rage when it comes to weddings and there are so many fabulous ideas from invitations, to decor to favors. Below are some great concepts.

Glassware – instead of traditional champagne glasses opt for mason jar glassware complete with name tags.

Decorations-set the mood of the reception with a mason jar candle votive. I love how different heights and widths of jars were used to add dimension to this banquet table.

Bring your party to the center ring-A circus themed birthday party

The word “circus” creates the “de de de de diddle de de de de” music in my mind with the smell of popcorn and the ring master yelling “Let the circus begin!”  Circus-themed birthday parties are colorful, bright and allow for so many ways to create this spectacular theme in a spectacular fashion.

Take, for instance, this great circus party buffet table.  With a few cupcake toppers, some popcorn bags, streamers and a bright table cloth, you have a great food table that could certainly take the center ring.

Or, this great table.  Same concept, but with a few more embellishments (like clown noses and blow outs in jars) this circus themed birthday party table really takes the cake.

The thing I love, love, love about circus themed birthday parties is the colorful ways in which you can go with the theme.  Blue, red and yellow is a popular choice, but if you change the colors just slightly, you still have a cheery look, but a completely different feel to the event.

Take, for instance,  how this customer incorporated the pinks, turquoise and lime greens into her party with our circus party poster.  The original design was in the classic red, blue and yellow, but it looks so great in the pink, yellow and lime green variation as well.

Although wedding themes seem to change with annual trends and styles, one thing never changes; a bride’s personal style or preference trumps any recognized industry trend or style. That’s what I love about our wedding invitations. We truly allow the bride who’s dreamt of her wedding day since the age of six to make her invitations capture that dream. Sure we start with designs that follow industry trends, but the true magic happens when a bride takes one of our wedding collections and creates an invitation unique to her tastes.

Birthday Parties for Adults-Bring Back the Magic

As a kid, I LIVED for birthday parties. It didn’t matter if it was mine or a friend of mine’s party.  It was an excuse to play, eat cake and give (or get!) super cool, shiny, new things.  I can still remember the feeling I would get when I received the invitation to a birthday party and then how my friends and I would talk about how great the party was going to be and what we would wear and yada, yada, yada.  The actual day of the event was super as well.  You just knew you were going to have delicious food, participate in a really fun game and eat cake.

I am not sure at what age that changed, but for some reason, birthdays started to feel more like just another ordinary day.  And, like many of friends, the day evokes a sort of dread.  “Ugh,” they say, “I am getting so old!” or “I have no idea what I am going to do for my birthday.”  Why is this?  If anything, it should become more exciting the older you get.  It is true you are older, but you are also wiser and you’ve experienced another amazing year and you get to have another birthday!  So, why shouldn’t we become giddy for another birthday party?  Just like when we were kids, you get to have some fun, eat delicious food and let loose.  Furthermore, your birthday doesn’t have to be extravagant, expensive or even novel (they weren’t when we were kids and they still totally rocked!)

So, why don’t you try this on for size: invite friends and family to your birthday party with a simple birthday party invitation that you either hand out or mail. Do something fun (like go sledding, splash in the pool, make a craft—yes, you can even do this at the age of 50) and offer delicious, easy to prepare food.  You’ll realize that you are never, ever to old to play and it is never, ever boring or even dreadful to celebrate your very special birthday.

Baby Monkey Baby Shower

Baby showers are such a celebratory event, especially for the first-time mom. There are so many unique themes to choose from and one that I keep stumbling upon that offers so many ideas and coordinating items is that of the 1940′s inspired sock monkey baby shower. I’m serious, you can find almost anything that is sock monkey related i.e. from hats to booties to cupcake wrappers to gift wrap to blankets and balloons. It’s a great theme and is neutral enough that it can be used for a baby boy or baby girl. We recently designed some very cute sock monkey baby shower invitations. These invitations feature the iconic sock monkey, who’s sporting an updated plaid hat and holding a sign containing the baby shower information.

Bridal Shower Tea Party Invitation

It has been a while since I have talked about this particular  bridal shower tea party invitation in a 2010 post where the customer changed the tea party invitation to a black, butter yellow and white.   There have been so many color variations since that I have lost track.   All have been beautiful, however, when I saw this color combination, I had to share.  In a word, I think this customer made this invitation absolutely striking.  What  you think?

Kid’s Birthday Invitations – Back to Basics

Kid’s birthday party themes seem to be getting more extravagant and involved. I recently heard about a first birthday party that not only provided pony rides for the kids and an open-bar for the adults, but also had a special Happy Birthday song performed by a previous American Idol participant. Don’t get me wrong, I love celebrating birthdays and I think kids birthdays are worthy of a great celebration ( not 500 of his/her best friends and a music star), but what happened to a cute theme and a great cake?

Below are some birthday party ideas that will surely be a hit with the kids and parents alike, and gets back to the basics.

Itsy Bitsy Spider Birthday Party

One great, and simple idea, is an Itsy Bitsy Spider party. There are so many fun things you can implement for an Itsy Bitsy Spider party. Create a “pin the spider on the spout” game where children are given paper spiders and have to adhere them to a paper rain spout. Play a musical chairs game with the Itsy Bitsy Spider song. Decorate with spiders and quotes from the nursery rhyme. Create a spider cake that is surrounded by itsy bitsy spider cupcakes. Give all the kids an itsy bitsy spider book as a party favor. And of course, set the tone of the party with our  itsy bitsy spider birthday invitation and coordinating items.

Truck Birthday Party

Does your little tyke love to play with anything that has four wheels? Then throw him a truck-themed birthday party. Decorate with construction signs and paper street lights. Create a play area filled with an assortment of blocks and trucks or create a street course on a sheet on which kids can push their cars or trucks. Personalized Labels for Preschoolers

This customer had such a cute idea for her child’s preschool classmates that we had to share.  She wanted to create personalized labels for each child in her little girl’s class for Valentine’s day. The school is big on labeling clothing, personal items, etc so she thought this would be the perfect gift that would a) work for everyone’s dietary needs b) help to prevent (or at least not cause) cavities and c) help kiddos label their things in style.  We were so happy that she contacted us and we had to share with you what she did!

We did not have anything like this on our site, but we instantly thought of our return address labels as  the perfect solution.    We then took elements from our other designs to create a more kid friendly look.  For the boy’s labels we took the cute little dinosaur element from our Dinosaur Photo Birth Announcement and, for the girl’s labels, we used the strawberry patch from our Strawberry Photo Birth Announcement.  Each label was customized with a child’s name for a small fee, however, because she was willing to use elements from other designs on our site, there was no additional charge to create the look.
