Wedding thank you note etiquette
Sending a hand written thank you note is the single most important way you can thank your guests after your wedding. It is a MUST do and can easily be tackled if you commit to writing a set number of thank you cards a day.
Wedding thank you card do's
Do:
- Thank your guests in a personal, convivial way.
Spell your recipients name correctly-double check it against the card they included with your gift
- Thank them not only for celebrating with you but for their generous gift and how you will use it
- Write your thank you notes in a timely manner...old etiquette said within one year. New etiquette is to have them all written within the first three months of marriage.
- Hand write every single thank you note and if you can, as soon as you receive your gift.
Wedding thank you note don'ts
Don't:
- Use a form fill letter or pre-printed card for your thank you notes
- Show any dissatisfaction in the thank you note about the gift (even if you are going to return it---thank them for taking the time, the thoughtfulness and how much you appreciate the gift)
- Post a mass thank you to your blog, face book account, etc.,-and call it good
- Be superficial in your note (i.e….This is the most wonderful gift I have ever received) unless you mean it
- Wait too long and then never send your thank you cards
