If you just want to let your friends and family know that you truly wish them a happy holiday but don't want to include a photo, consider sending a Christmas party invitation, but modify the wording to say something like, “Thinking of you this Christmas season. For example, photo paper has a glossy finish and ink easily smears on the paper so if you want to include hand written notes, stay clear of this type of paper. Holiday Card Etiquette

Not sure if you should say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" on your Christmas card? If you are sending your card to your business associates, it may be best to keep it more generic with “happy holidays” but if you are just sending to your close friends and family, it is perfectly appropriate to wish them a very Merry Christmas. ‘Tis the season, isn’t it?
